What’s up with Council these days?

Council is seeking your input on a number of items to help us set our priorities for this semester:

1. Help decide how council funds are spent this semester

At our first meeting on October 6, council held a brainstorming session to decide how we will allocate our funds for the semester. The draft budget below still needs final touches, and we welcome your input as to how council funds are spent. Remember, council funds are for the benefit of all residents (it's your money!).

A draft of our Fall 2009 budget can be found here: http://ihousecouncil.googlegroups.com/web/Budget-Fall2009.pdf

Please review the budget and provide your comments here: http://groups.google.com/group/ihousecouncil/browse_thread/thread/b2cd1d06ea368289

2. Propose an event

Council can help fund events or trips that are open to all residents. Have an idea for an event or trip you'd like council to sponsor? Propose it to us, and we'll review it at our weekly meetings. Examples of events that council has run in the past include dinner parties, cooking classes, educational events, whale watching trips in Monterey, trips to the San Francisco Opera, biking over the Golden Gate Bridge, and lots more!

Proposal forms can be found here: http://ihousecouncil.googlegroups.com/web/COUNCIL_PROPOSAL_FORM_Oct2009.doc

Please save the Word document to your computer, fill it out, and then e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Council's weekly meetings are held Wednesdays at 7:30. Proposals received by Monday will be reviewed in the same week.

3. Host a coffee hour to showcase your culture or country

Coffee hours are held every Wednesday night, and council can fund up to $300 for you to showcase your country or culture at one of the coffee hours.

Info about organizing a coffee hour can be found here: http://ihousecouncil.googlegroups.com/web/CoffeeHourInfo.doc

Coffee hour proposals can be found here: http://ihousecouncil.googlegroups.com/web/CoffeeHourproposal.xls

4. Contact council with ideas

Is there something in I-House you'd like to see changed or improved? Contact council at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so that you can be put on our meeting agenda to discuss your concerns.

5. Join the Council Facebook Group

Keep up-to-date on upcoming council-sponsored events. Join our Facebook group by searching for "I-House Council Events and Info"
